Service is everything!

Hi Everyone,
It's been a busy week in our virtual classroom.  Students started their service project assignments where they wrote thank you notes to our frontline workers.  On Monday, they did Google Slides for doctors and nurses.  Wednesday, students worked on slides for first responders, and on Thursday, students worked on slides for grocery workers.  The slides are wonderful.  These will be hung up in various locations around the city.  Great job, fifth graders!

Accountability and Check-Ins with Students
The hardest part of not being with my students is the interaction and support I can provide in a classroom setting with routines and learning.  So I am asking for parent help and support.  If parents could please check over assignments on Fridays before they are turned in, that would be appreciated.  Even a verbal daily check-in about what they have done or to see what the assignment is can help with students.  Please remind your child to revise and edit their work after feedback is given if needed.

For these last 5 weeks, I am hoping that students push their thinking and try and write with details and examples in writing responses.  Besides the need for practicing capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and grammar in typing, students can go deeper into their thinking.  Please check-in with your child and ask to see their work and my comments and feedback.

Teacher Appreciation Week
Please take the time to show your appreciation for your special area teachers and the other fifth grade teachers, Mrs. Pryce, Mr. Cramer, and Mzzz Kreger.  You can draw something, take a picture of it and send it to them, you can write them an email, or you could even sing them a song!  Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure they would appreciate it. :0)
